ABB India integrates digital platform for Sunflag Iron and Steel

ABB India said that Sunflag Iron and Steel Company has integrated its digital solution – ABB Ability Data Analytics Platform for metals at its steel factory in Bhandara, India, for enabling enhanced decision making.

The subsidiary of the Switzerland-based automation company said that the digital solution will tie together all manufacturing and operational data of steel melt shop and rolling mills to boost production planning and for optimizing the plant performance.

The steel plant of Sunflag Iron and Steel Company can produce 500,000 metric tons of special steel per annum. The ABB Ability Data Analytics Platform will help integrate data sources from 17 operational areas, including non-ABB systems.

ABB India said that information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) among others have converged to positively affect the steel melt shop (SMS) and rolling mills of Sunflag Iron and Steel Company.

According to ABB India, the integration of the platform with the existing automation systems for process and quality monitoring in real time aligns with user-friendly operator dashboards that can be accessed through a web page on mobile.

The ABB Ability Data Analytics Platform for metals is said to allow detection and diagnosis of issues or also use of extra resources.
