Jyske Bank confirms talks to acquire Danish unit of Svenska Handelsbanken

Jyske Bank, a Denmark-based banking company, has confirmed market rumors that it is in talks to acquire the Danish operations of Swedish consumer banking company Svenska Handelsbanken.

According to Jyske Bank, no agreement on the potential deal has been reached by the parties.

Svenska Handelsbanken, which has also confirmed about the discussions, on its website, stated that it has decided to stop its operations in Denmark. A process has been launched to sell the business unit, said the Swedish consumer banking company.

The Danish operations of Svenska Handelsbanken opened in 1992. The bank has over 40 branches in Denmark and employs nearly 600 people.
