ONGC awards contract to Shelf Drilling for Parameswara jack-up rig

Indian state-owned energy company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has awarded a contract to UAE-based Shelf Drilling for deploying its Parameswara jack-up rig off the west coast of India.

The contract is for three years, said Shelf Drilling, which is a shallow water offshore drilling contractor with rig operations across the Middle East, India, West Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Mediterranean.

The Parameswara jack-up rig will be used by ONGC for its operations in the Mumbai High.

According to Shelf Drilling, the planned start-up of operations is the first quarter of next year.

Recently, ONGC said that it had started production from the U1B deep-water gas well in the KG-DWN 98/2 Block Cluster – II in the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin. The U1B gas well is estimated to record a peak production of 1.2 million metric standard cubic meters per day.
