Petrofac wins contract from NCOC for new water treating facilities in Kazakhstan

Petrofac said that its engineering and production services (EPS) unit, in a joint venture with Kazakhstani company Isker has won an engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning (EPCC) contract worth around $135 million from North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) for new water treating facilities in Atyrau, Kazakhstan.

The work scope for the 30-month contract covers an inlet stream screening for removing debris, feeding water tanks with oil skimmer and pumps, a clarifier system including flocculation, treated wastewater storage and pumps, coagulation and oil skimmer, sludge treatment and associated utilities.

The award of the EPCC project is said to be in line with Petrofac EPS’s strategy to concentrate on and bag small greenfield and brownfield EPC projects by using its capabilities, footprint, and infrastructure.

North Caspian Operating Company is the operator of the North Caspian Project, which is the first major offshore oil and gas development in Kazakhstan. The company began production of oil at the Kashagan field in 2016, which has now hit 380,000 barrels per day.
