Hub International acquires Maryland broker Bernstein Insurance

Global insurance brokerage Hub International has acquired the assets of Maryland-based Bernstein Insurance for an undisclosed price.

Bernstein Insurance, which is located in Odenton, offers personal and commercial insurance solutions, which include home, auto, business, and life.

Jennifer Bernstein, the main owner of Bernstein Insurance will be joining Hub having transitioned recently to an independent broker. She was previously part of the exclusive distribution model of Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company.

Jennifer Bernstein and her son – Michael Bernstein will work under Norman Breitenbach, President of the region, after joining Hub Mid-Atlantic.

This acquisition of Bernstein Insurance comes after Hub’s recent takeover of the insurance brokerage assets of Rockville Insurance Agency, Jeffrey Preston Zepp, and Charles Rhett Butler. All the three previously acquired businesses had transitioned into independent brokers from Nationwide’s exclusive distribution model.

With the acquisitions, Hub said that its personal and commercial solutions will be strengthened.

Hub said that it has added 19 agencies in the last 12 months that were exclusive Nationwide agents before and had become independent subsequently.
