BWXT bags $806m long-lead material contract from US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
BWXT Nuclear Operations Group, a subsidiary of nuclear components and fuel supplier BWX Technologies (BWXT), has won a contract of around $806 million from the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
The contract, which comes with options, is for the procurement of long-lead materials needed for the manufacturing of naval reactor components.

Earlier this year, BWX Technologies signed a price agreement with the US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program on new contracts totaling around $2.1 billion, including future-year options. The latest procurement contract is in addition to that award and is said to offer a significant portion of the material needed for fabrication of components for the previously announced Virginia and Columbia-class submarines, and for Ford-class carrier options.
According to BWX Technologies, the base material procurement contract for fiscal year 2019 is valued at $75 million. Th and is the first of seven annual options available through 2025. The remaining six options have an average annual value of about $122 million, contingent on U.S. congressional appropriations.
