Motorola Solutions expands global R&D capabilities with new centre in Cork, Ireland

Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) has announced the opening of a new Research and Development Centre in Cork, Ireland, a strategic move expected to create 200 highly skilled jobs. This new facility will focus on developing software for the company’s extensive land mobile radio (LMR) portfolio, with potential future expansion into other technological areas.

The new Cork facility will join Motorola Solutions’ extensive network of operations that include communications, video security, access control, artificial intelligence, and command center technologies. Motorola Solutions has a rich history of innovation, from producing the first car radio to playing a critical role in the Apollo missions, and more recently, introducing the APX NEXT smart radio that integrates broadband applications with traditional two-way radio capabilities.
