Mumbai shocker – Politician’s son flees after killing woman in drunken drive

In a heart-wrenching incident early Sunday morning, a speeding BMW struck a scooter in Mumbai’s Worli area, leading to the death of a 45-year-old woman, Kaveri Nakhwa, and leaving her husband with minor injuries. The accident occurred at 5:30 AM local time near Atria Mall, when the couple, residents of Worli Koliwada and members of the local fishing community, were returning home after a morning at Sassoon Dock.

The car involved in the crash, registered to Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of Rajesh Shah, deputy leader of the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, fled the scene immediately after the accident. According to reports, Mihir Shah was behind the wheel and allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The tragic event has sparked a wave of outrage and a demanding call for justice, prompting an intensive police investigation.

Following the crash, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his condolences and affirmed that justice would be served. “This hit-and-run case is very unfortunate. Action will be taken against the guilty…We treat everyone equally. Whatever happens will be legal,” stated Chief Minister Shinde. The police have arrested Rajesh Shah and the driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, on multiple charges, including failing to cooperate with the investigation.

A case has been registered under the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and destruction of evidence, among others.
