Altair acquires OmniV technology to boost open model-based systems engineering practice

Altair, a global leader in computational science and artificial intelligence, announced the acquisition of OmniV, a product of XLDyn, a renowned product development software company based in Southeast Michigan.

The OmniV technology, known for its promotion of open model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices, aims to bridge the gap between high-level system modeling and simulation and detailed, domain-specific modeling and simulation. This platform allows a seamless connection to various enterprise data stores and verification and validation methods, including those from third-party vendors.

In addition to being vendor-agnostic, OmniV supports systems modeling language (SysML), enabling easy sharing of SysML-compliant diagrams with product development teams. This move will facilitate the creation of digital twins earlier in the product development process, even before CAD models are developed.

Regardless of what tools you use, OmniV allows customers to have an open architecture MBSE practice that provides a traceable ecosystem to track performance, cost, and mass of a product.”

Following the acquisition, OmniV will be integrated into Altair’s digital twin solution set and accessible via Altair One, Altair’s cloud innovation gateway. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
