ABB India boosts Kanpur Metro’s efficiency with innovative electrification

ABB India, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based technology company ABB, said that it has enhanced the operations of Kanpur Metro by integrating its state-of-the-art electrification solutions.

This installation promises reliable, high-quality power distribution, ensuring a seamless and comfortable commute for passengers. ABB’s contribution to the Kanpur Metro marks its involvement in a total of 13 metro rail projects throughout India.

Metro systems have become a crucial component of public transportation in urban Indian locales, promoting enhanced comfort, quality, and sustainability. In line with these advancements, Kanpur has ascended to the ranks of the top ten Indian Smart Cities, as acknowledged by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Development’s Smart City Mission.

ABB India has furnished the Kanpur Metro with Low Voltage Switchboards, Medium Voltage Panels, and Lighting Distribution Boards, aligning with the project’s technical specifications. These top-tier products, coupled with ABB’s smart distribution technology, facilitate the efficient management of metro stations and operations, improve power distribution and supply, and promote energy efficiency.

Since 2002, ABB has led the way in offering comprehensive power supply solutions for metro rail projects. Currently, their electrification solutions, including both AC and DC metro rail systems, power thirteen operational metro rail projects across India.
