Wipro to acquire Australian cyber security company Ampion

Wipro acquisition of Ampion : Indian IT services provider Wipro has agreed to acquire Australian cyber security company Ampion for an undisclosed price.

Ampion also provides DevOps and engineering services.

It was created following the merger of Revolution IT and Shelde.

Revolution IT was an Australia-based IT services company established in 2004. Shelde, which was founded in 2010 was an Australia-based digital IT security company.

Ampion, which is headquartered in Melbourne, also has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra.

According to Wipro, the Australian market is going through considerable disruption due to the adoption of cloud, DevOps, analytics, and resilience related digital capabilities, across public sector firms and enterprises.

The combined offerings of Wipro and Ampion driven by engineering transformation, DevOps and security consulting services is expected to bring scale and market agility to address the increasing demands of customers.

Wipro said that its new operating model pushes for making strategic investments in focus regions, proximity to customers, agility, scale and localization.

The Indian IT services provider said that the acquisition of Ampion is a key step for it in this direction.

Wipro acquisition of Ampion, which is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, is likely to be wrapped up in the quarter ending 30 June 2021.

Earlier this month, Wipro signed a $1.45 billion deal to acquire Capco, a management and technology consultancy based in London that offers digital, consulting, and technology services to the banking and financial services sectors.  Read more about Wipro acquisition of Capco here.
