Wipro ropes in Mohammed Areff as Middle East country head and MD
Indian IT company Wipro Limited has appointed Mohammed Areff as the company’s new country head and managing director (MD) for the Middle East region.
According to Wipro, Mohammed Areff will focus on its vision for business growth, brand building, localization, and considerable transformational and modernization engagements with clients in important sectors across the Middle East.
Mohammed Areff is said to have more than 20 years of experience with various multinational companies in the Middle East. He had held leadership roles in steering client transformations across multiple industries, said Wipro.
Most recently, he was the regional director of Microsoft Gulf. In that role, Mohammed Areff was responsible for driving successful customer outcomes by utilizing technology deployments and implementations in multi-cloud environments.

He also led teams across multiple industry verticals offering the sales and technical specialization on new business as well as premium cloud solutions. Before that, Mohammed Areff is said to have developed extensive expertise in the Middle East managed services space by taking up leadership roles at NCR Corporation and Avaya.

He will be reporting to NS Bala, who is the CEO of Wipro APMEA.

In a separate development, Wipro had forged a partnership with HERE Technologies for offering customers with location-based services.
