Wipro launches IoT-based sewage monitoring solution – Wipro Sewage Monitor

Wipro has launched an Internet of Things (IoT) based sewage monitoring solution called Wipro Sewage Monitor to help municipalities keep a watch on their water systems in real time.

According to the Indian IT services provider, with climate change causing extreme weather, cities around the world want to upgrade their water and sewage infrastructure to quickly respond to the crisis.

Wipro Sewage Monitor is said to utilize advanced connected sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) platform for producing real-time insights to let organizations continuously track water systems and carry out proactive maintenance. The sewage monitoring solution helps cities and utilities to comply with environmental water policies, while protecting municipal workforces and communities.

Wipro has forged a partnership with UMPI, an Italian manufacturer of intelligent products and systems, which will use the Wipro Sewage Monitor IoT platform to empower European water companies to enhance accuracy and efficiency in monitoring their systems.

The Wipro Sewage Monitor IoT Platform features a variety of advanced IoT sensors, including millimetre wave radar capabilities and temperature gauges that can be installed easily in aging water systems as well, said Wipro.

The sewage monitoring solution is also said to supports the efforts of utilities to protect the environment, as it helps them take the required measures to stop environmentally harmful wastewater pollutants from escaping their networks.

Wipro Sewage Montor is claimed to operate at a low cost for up to seven years of battery life.
