Wipro launches DICE ID digital identification and credential verification platform

Wipro said that its innovation lab — Wipro Lab45 has launched Decentralized Identity and Credential Exchange ID (DICE ID), a blockchain-enabled platform for putting users in control of their personal information and facilitating quicker, easier, and secure sharing of private data online.

With blockchain technology as the backbone, DICE ID enables the issuance and verification of tamperproof, self-verifiable digital IDs.

The new digital identification and credential verification platform is said to keep verified personal information obtained from accredited issuers in an identity wallet that is owned by the person who uses it.

All the information is encrypted and stored in the user’s personal identity wallet. The digital wallet is used to share identity and credentials for a range of uses, including potential or current employers, financial and healthcare service providers, as well as educational institutions.

DICE ID gives users control of their personal information which allows them to choose the amount and kind of information they wish to share in their digital settings, said Wipro.

The digital identification and credential verification platform is based on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) verified open data model for credential data, that makes credential data that is both machine-readable and interoperable, and permits the secure exchange of credentials among ecosystem players.

Already being utilized by select customers since September 2022, DICE ID can be seen used in a variety of ways, but it is particularly effective in credential verification to aid in talent/crowd purpose of sourcing, said Wipro.
