Westinghouse to supply AP1000 reactors for nuclear power plant in Poland
The Government of Poland will deploy Westinghouse Electric’s AP1000 nuclear reactor technology at the first-ever nuclear power plant in Poland, advancing the country’s clean and secure energy future.
The US manufacturing company will supply three AP1000 nuclear power reactors for the Polish government’s 6-9GWe nuclear program that commences at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in northern Poland.
The AP1000 nuclear power plant technology will produce 3.6GW, which is approximately 15% of the total electricity consumption in Poland.
Once operational, the nuclear power plant in Poland is expected to eliminate 26 million tons of carbon emissions every year.

The nuclear power plant in Poland is expected to create 20,000 jobs during the construction phase.
The AP1000 nuclear reactor is claimed to be the only operating Generation III+ reactor with fully passive safety systems, modular construction design, and the smallest footprint per MWe.
The US has selected a couple of AP1000 units for the under-construction Plant Vogtle located in Burke County, near Waynesboro, Georgia,
China has also deployed four AP1000 units while four additional units are under construction.
Westinghouse, in a statement, said that the AP1000 technology also has been selected for two additional units in China as well as nine units in Ukraine.
