Western Range Mine: Primero Group wins A$54m contract for non-process infrastructure

NRW Holdings Limited announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Primero Group Limited, has been awarded a significant contract by Rio Tinto for work at the Western Range Mine Site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

The contract, valued at approximately AUD 54 million, further strengthens NRW Holdings’ position in the mining and construction industry and highlights the capabilities of their subsidiary, Primero Group, in delivering comprehensive infrastructure solutions.

The Western Range Mine, also known as Western Range DSO, is an iron ore mine that produces direct shipping ore (DSO), which refers to iron ore that requires minimal processing before it can be shipped and used in steel production.

Under the contract, Primero Group will be responsible for the design, supply, construction, and commissioning of various Non-Process Infrastructure facilities on-site. This includes the refuelling facility, primary crusher maintenance facility, mobile equipment maintenance facility, wastewater treatment plant, washdown facilities, and water infrastructure.

The twelve-month contract is scheduled to commence in April 2023 and represents a significant opportunity for NRW Holdings and Primero Group to showcase their expertise while reinforcing their long-standing relationship with Rio Tinto.
