Volvo Trucks to deliver 25 more heavy electric trucks to DFDS

Volvo Trucks has bagged an order to deliver an additional 25 heavy electric trucks to Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS.

Volvo Group, the parent firm of the Swedish truck manufacturer, said that the delivery of the Volvo FM Electric trucks is planned to begin in Q4 2022. DFDS is expected to use the new trucks for transports in its logistics system in Europe.

Niklas Andersson — DFDS Executive Vice President and Head of Logistics Division said: “Green investments in the heavy transport industry are a prerequisite to reach the emissions reductions needed for DFDS, our customers, and society in general. Our partnership with Volvo Trucks allows DFDS to offer further low-emission transport solutions, already in high demand among customers.

“We hope such investments will increase the demand for green infrastructure solutions across Europe.”

In October 2021, DFDS had ordered 100 Volvo FM Electric trucks.

According to Volvo Group, with a fast top-up charge, a Volvo FM Electric truck can be used for driving up to 500 km during a workday.

Weighing up to 44 tons, Volvo FM Electric can be charged overnight at the home-depot and through high power fast charging on route as well.
