Voltas subsidiary UMPESL wins Rs 18bn power distribution project orders

Voltas Ltd. Said that its fully-owned subsidiary Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services (UMPESL) has won multiple SITC project orders in the electrical power distribution business, worth around INR 1,770 crores for FY 22-23.

The orders include a solar power project, said Voltas, which is part of the Tata Group.

According to Voltas, the orders were made on a highly competitive marketplace and will help more than 46 million Indians in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Karnataka.

UMPESL and its experience within its expertise in the power distribution sector over the last few years has taken over these projects to assist India’s government’s aim of providing 100% high-quality reliable, affordable electricity to households and customers all over India, said Voltas.

According to Voltas, UMPESL was awarded project orders that span 26 districts in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Odisha.

A number of state-owned distribution firms and private players, such as MVVNL in Uttar Pradesh, MPPKVVCL along with MPMKVVCL in Madhya Pradesh, WBSEDCL in West Bengal, TPCODL in Odisha as well as Sembcorp in Karnataka which have given those projects to UMPESL.
