Voltas breaks ground on Rs 500cr air conditioner factory in Madharapakkam

Voltas Limited conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for its new air conditioner factory in Madharapakkam, Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, which will entail an investment of over INR 500 crores through the next two years.

The Indian air conditioning and engineering solutions provider, ceremony, which is owned by Tata Group said that the Madharapakkam air conditioner plant will span an area of 150 acres.

It will be dedicated to manufacturing room air conditioners (RAC) in the upcoming years. The facility’s primary objective is to ensure the production of globally competitive products, aligning with Voltas’ commitment to excellence.

This air conditioner factory in Madharapakkam will serve as an extension of the existing RAC facility in Pantnagar in Uttarakhand, further strengthening the brand’s manufacturing capabilities.

Scheduled to become fully operational within the current fiscal year, the Madharapakkam air conditioner plant is expected to bring about numerous advantages to the local communities in its vicinity, claimed Voltas. It is projected to generate employment opportunities for over 1,500 workers, thereby making a positive impact on the region’s economy.

Voltas said that its latest venture represents a significant stride towards its vision of making high-quality cooling products in India. With the air conditioner factory in Tamil Nadu, Voltas expects to reinforce its position in the Indian AC market while contributing to the nation’s manufacturing sector and job creation initiatives.
