Vikas Ecotech to develop corrosion protection technology for marine conditions

Vikas Ecotech Limited has forged alliances with undisclosed global conglomerates to develop technology for producing smart intelligent coatings for corrosion protection in marine environments.

The New Delhi-based company said that the collaborative innovation aims to design conducting polymer nanocomposites by integrating filler materials and appropriately choosing a medium for polymerization to ensure that the produced epoxy coatings can be used for corrosion prevention of iron in saline water conditions.

According to Vikas Ecotech, corrosion protection coating is among the most economical and effective solutions for handling corrosion. The protection coating functions as a wall between the surface and the corrosion agent and extends the life of the structure apart from improving its efficiency, stated the company, which manufactures specialty polymers and specialty additives and chemicals.

Vikas Ecotech stated: “Our R&D team has designed new powder & liquid formulations for smart intelligent conjugated polymeric systems which show superior corrosion protection besides intelligent behaviour and self-healing characteristics.

“Demands of such coatings will be very beneficial in the automotive sector, and paint industry. To get benefitted by all these developments, we are entering into contract or at the final stage of negotiations for technologies know how transfer and setting up joint ventures with various companies/entities not only in India but across the world.”
