Tyson Foods to build $300m fully-cooked plant in Danville, Virginia

Tyson Foods has announced a $300 million investment in Virginia for constructing a new, fully-cooked plant in Danville that will primarily produce the Tyson branded chicken products.

According to the US meat processing giant, the project is part of its efforts to cope up with rising demand and deliver on its strategy of expediting long-term growth.

The fully-cooked plant in Danville is anticipated to generate around 400 jobs when it begins production in the spring of 2023.

Noelle O’Mara — President of Tyson Foods Prepared Foods said: “As consumers actively look to add more protein to their diets, Tyson is uniquely positioned as a category leader to meet that growing demand.

“Our continued focus on consumer driven innovation will accelerate this momentum and our investment in Danville-Pittsylvania County will help drive the long-term growth of the iconic Tyson brand.”

Tyson Foods said that the 325,000sft facility will produce Any’tizer Snacks and Chicken Nuggets among others.

The US meat processing company said that it has committed to procure 60 million pounds of Virginia-grown chicken in the coming three years.

The fully-cooked facility will be constructed in an industrial park called Cane Creek Center, which is co-owned by the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County.
