Traverse City Whiskey begins construction on craft whiskey production plant in Traverse City, Michigan
Traverse City Whiskey, a distilled spirits company, has broken ground on its new craft whiskey production plant in Traverse City, Michigan, to meet the increasing demand for the company’s products, including premium Cocktail Cherries and Cocktail Crate craft mixers.
The distilling campus will increase the company’s existing manufacturing facilities and tasting room at 201 E. 14th St. in downtown Traverse City.
The 70,000sft craft whiskey production plant, which is set on 35 acres of land, will enable Traverse City Whiskey to increase production of its premium whiskeys and bourbon portfolio to 24,000 barrels of whiskey annually.

“Our new headquarters will be an all-encompassing campus that will provide a unique immersion in whiskey culture and industry and will add a new experience to the thriving Northern Michigan agritourism industry.”

Being built in partnership with Mathison Architects and Erhardt Construction, the craft whiskey production plant in Traverse City will feature a traditional rack house, processing and packaging spaces, administrative offices, a visitor center and tasting room as well as indoor and outdoor hospitality spaces.
Traverse City Whiskey will also use a portion of the property to cultivate grain for use by the company’s many distillations.
The new craft whiskey production facility is expected to open in 2024.
In 2018, Traverse City Whiskey introduced its Premium Cocktail Cherries while in 2019, the company acquired Cocktail Crate premium craft mixers and opened its first tasting room named The Outpost in Ferndale in Metro Detroit.
Traverse City Whiskey, also known as “The Whiskey of the North”, is a member of the Distilled Spirits Council of the US.
The company products are available through the brand website and at on- and off-premise establishments in over 30 US States.
