TechnipFMC partners with Petronas for gas processing technology
TechnipFMC has signed an agreement with Malaysian oil and gas firm PETRONAS’ subsidiary PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB) for commercializing a natural gas processing membrane, which is claimed to cut down greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Under the technology commercialization agreement, TechnipFMC will leverage and incorporate its membrane-based technology that is licensed from the Malaysian energy giant as part of its production portfolio across the globe with the exclusion of China.

The process, which eliminates carbon dioxide as well as hydrogen sulfide by using wetted membranes, is said to be 30% better than current gas treatment techniques. It can decrease GHG emissions by substantial quantities, said TechnipFMC.
The company further said that the membrane can be used in onshore as well as offshore hydrocarbon production environments.
