Tata Steel restarts blast furnace at Kalinganagar iron and steel plant

Tata Steel Long Products (TSLP) said that it has restarted the blast furnace at the Kalinganagar iron and steel plant of its subsidiary Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd (NINL).

According to the Tata Group company, the milestone comes 90 days after the completion of acquiring a 93.71% stake in Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited for INR 12,100 crores.

Tata Steel Long Products said that the quick restart at the Kalinganagar iron and steel plant underlines its commitment to the site, the underlying strength of the existing assets, and its significance to the strategy of Tata Steel.

T V Narendran — Tata Steel Long Products and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited Chairman and Tata Steel CEO and Managing Director said: “Given that the site was not in operation for 2 years, we wanted to restart the furnace quickly, deploying and demonstrating Tata Steel’sstrong execution capabilities.

“We are now focused on ramping up production gradually to rated capacity as per plan. We are grateful to the Central Government, Government of Odisha, NINL Employees, District Administration and local community for their steadfast support.”
