Tata Motors signs PPA with Tata Power for solar power plant in Pune

Tata Motors has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power to install a 4MWp solar power plant at the former’s commercial vehicle manufacturing plant in Pune.

The solar power project is expected to produce 5.8 million units of electricity, while offsetting over a million tonnes of carbon emission, said Tata Motors.

Shivram Bikkina — Tata Power Solar Rooftop Chief said: “Tata Power is pleased to collaborate with Tata Motors in supporting the expansion of green energy utilisation through this 4 MWp power project at its manufacturing facility in Pune.

Tata Motors said that until FY22, it has deployed 15MWp solar project at its passenger and commercial manufacturing facility in Pune, which has helped the company in producing 21 million kWh of renewable electricity.

Alok Kumar Singh — Tata Motors Commercial Vehicle Manufacturing Facility Plant Head said: “It has been our continuous endeavour to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to achieve Net Zero Emission goal.

“We have been exploring different avenues and business models for using renewable energy to promote sustainable business growth. In FY22, the total renewable energy contribution at our CV Pune plant was 32%. With this agreement, we reaffirm our commitment to moving closer to our goals of cultivating 100% renewable energy capacity.”
