Maersk Drilling has bagged an additional one-well contract worth around $18.5 million for its Maersk Integrator jack-up rig from Aker BP, the operator of the Tambar field offshore Norway.

The Danish drilling rig operator said that in direct continuation of its present work scope, the Maersk Integrator rig will move to the Tambar field to drill the K-2B development well with work likely to begin in February 2021.

The estimated duration of the contract is 73 days and its consideration excludes integrated services offered by the company and a potential performance bonus.

The Maersk Integrator jack-up rig has been contracted for the Tambar field drilling as per the terms of the frame agreement signed by Maersk Drilling with Aker BP in 2017 as part of the Aker BP Jack-up Alliance which also features Halliburton. The tripartite alliance is said to use a shared incentives model for securing mutual commitment to collaborate and bring in digital initiatives for reducing waste and for creating value.

Morten Kelstrup – COO of Maersk Drilling, commenting on the Tambar field drilling contract, said: “We are delighted to confirm that Maersk Integrator will be back in action for Aker BP in early 2021. Our alliance with Aker BP and Halliburton is enabling new ways of working as one team across the value chain, and we have most recently seen the results of this in the safe and highly efficient operation delivered by Maersk Integrator in a complex campaign on the Ula field.

“This increased efficiency also translates into a reduction of the CO2 emissions associated with drilling, which will be further enhanced by the upgrades currently being performed on Maersk Integrator.”
