Stillfront to acquire Japanese strategy games developer Six Waves

Swedish game developer Stillfront Group has agreed to acquire Six Waves, a publisher of mobile free-to-play strategy games in Japan, for $201 million.

Stillfront Group will acquire Six Waves from NEXON (34.8%), Ng Lok Shun, Rex (20.5%), Chow Bong Leong, Arthur (13.2%), and other shareholders.

Established in 2008, 6waves is focused on developing mid-core strategy games adapted for Japanese gamers. Its strategy games include Shishinogotoku, Sangokuhaousenki, and Tenchinogotoku.

6waves’ studio employs 135 employees. The video gaming company is headquartered in Hong Kong and has offices in Beijing and Tokyo as well.

According to Stillfront Group, the acquisition of 6waves helps it set up a solid foothold in East Asia and considerably bolsters its footprint in the attractive Japanese gaming market.

Besides, 6waves brings various top grossing strategy titles to its portfolio and gives a strong platform with local expertise for continued growth via add-on acquisitions in East Asia, said Stillfront Group.
