Siemens Gamesa bags turbine orders for Tan Thuan and Thai Hoa wind farms
Siemens Gamesa has secured a couple of orders in Vietnam to supply its SG 5.0-145 turbines for the 75MW Tan Thuan wind farm and 90MW Thai Hoa wind farm, developed by Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 and Pacific Corporation, respectively.
The Spanish wind turbine manufacturer will deliver a total of 36 turbines, each with a capacity of 5MW, for the two wind projects in Vietnam.
The Tan Thuan wind farm to be built in the Tan Thuan commune in Dam Doi district in the province of Ca Mau is said to be the largest nearshore wind project in Vietnam to date. Expected to be operational in mid-2021, the Tan Thuan wind farm is the fourth nearshore wind project secured by Siemens Gamesa in Vietnam.
The Thai Hoa wind farm to be built in the Binh Thuan Province is also slated to begin operations mid-next year.
Upon their commissioning, the two wind farms could generate enough clean electricity to meet the power requirements of more than 350,000 Vietnamese, while helping in alleviating the shortage of power in the country.

The Spanish wind turbine manufacturer also signed up a 10-year contract to deliver operations and maintenance services for the Tan Thuan wind project and a 20-year agreement for servicing the Thai Hoa wind project. The two agreements are for ensuring the performance of the SG 5.0-145 turbines and for maximizing business case for the two wind farm developers, said Siemens Gamesa.
