Sewa to ship 400 oxygen concentrators and medical supplies to India

Sewa International has begun its ‘Help India Defeat Covid-19’ campaign and is sending the first shipment of 400 oxygen concentrators to hospitals and other emergency medical devices and supplies to India.

The Hindu faith-based charitable nonprofit organization said that it is also working to procure more oxygen concentrators from various suppliers across the world to ease the shortage of oxygen caused by increasing numbers of Covid-19 cases in India.

Sewa International said that it is also giving food and medicines to around 10,000 families and over 1000 orphanages and senior citizen centers across India. The charity is looking to raise five million dollars for the Help India Defeat Covid-19 campaign.

India’s healthcare system has been overwhelmed with the second wave of Covid-19, leading to a shortage of oxygen, ventilators, and hospital beds. Indian hospitals are under serious stress to accommodate new patients with cases crossing three lakhs each day and a rise in fatalities.

Arun Kankani – President of Sewa International said: “Sewa has already raised more than one million dollars to help India in its hour of need. We are getting a great response from thousands of donors and expressing a deep desire to help India overcome this crisis. We thank them for their generous and timely contribution,”

“We are working closely with many organizations in the US to raise funds for this effort. The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has partnered with Sewa to fund 200 oxygen concentrators.”
