Serra de Assuruá wind park : Vestas wins turbine contract from Engie

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has secured an order from Engie Brasil Energia to supply turbines for the 846MW Serra de Assuruá wind park in Brazil.

To be located in the state of Bahia, in the municipality of Gentio do Ouro, the wind farm is planned to be constructed in two phases.

Details of the Serra de Assuruá wind park contract

Under the contract, Vestas will be responsible for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of 120 V150-4.5 MW turbines for the 540MW first phase of Serra de Assuruá wind park.

The contract also provides an option for Engie to buy another 68 units for the second phase of the wind farm in Bahia. The order has to be placed by the end of 2022.

With the Serra de Assuruá wind park contract, Vestas takes its order intake for 4MW platform wind turbines in Brazil to 8GW since 2018.

Eduardo Ricotta — Vestas Latin America president, commenting on the Serra de Assuruá wind park contract, said: “Vestas is pleased to work in partnership with ENGIE Brasil Energia and reinforce both companies’ interest in accelerating the energy transition in the country.

The Serra do Assuruá wind farm is expected to gradually commence commercial operations from the second half of 2024.

To optimize the energy output of the Serra de Assuruá wind park, Vestas will also offer a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.
