Gazprom and RusGazDobycha have taken a final investment decision (FID) on the development of the Semakovskoye gas field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area in Russia.

The Semakovskoye field is spread in the waters of Taz Bay with a part of it on land in the Taz Peninsula. Classified as a large gas field, Semakovskoye’s recoverable gas reserves are said to be over 320 billion cubic meters.

RusGazAlyans, which was set up on a parity basis by the Gazprom Group and RusGazDobycha, is the operator of the Semakovskoye gas project. During the preparatory stage, it executed a set of design and survey works, carried out design documentation, and secured permits from governmental authorities to begin construction and installation operations under the first stage of field pre-development on land.

RusGazAlyans, as part of the first stage of pre-development, began development drilling at the Semakovskoye gas field. It has also begun construction for the first horizontal development well with a vertical deviation of over 2,000 meters. Designed to have a measured depth of nearly 2,700 meters, the well has a vertical depth of 830 meters.
