Sapura Energy wins $206m contracts in South America and Africa
Sapura Energy, a Malaysian oil and gas services company, has won three contracts with a total value of 840 million Malaysian Ringgit ($206 million) in South America and Africa.
The contracts include a couple of major project wins in South America, and a drilling contract in the Ivory Coast.
In South America, Sapura Energy’s subsidiary Sapura Energy Mexicana won the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract from Eni Mexico for the Amoca Project in Offshore Block Area 1 in Mexico.
The contract calls for the transportation and installation of the Amoca Platform. It also covers the installation of the associated pipeline and subsea cable that will interconnect the Amoca and Mizton platforms with the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
The Malaysian oil and gas services company expects works to be wrapped up by Q4 FY2022.

In Brazil, Sapura Energy said that Petróleo Brasileiro (Petrobras) has granted Sapura Navegação Marítima (SNM) 12-months extension on the contract for operating the pipe-laying support vessel Sapura Esmeralda.
The scope of work includes services and charter for the installation and recovery of flexible pipes by using the Sapura Esmeralda vessel in Brazilian waters.
The existing contract is anticipated to complete by April 2021 and the 12 months extension will immediately begin after the duration of the original contract of the Sapura Esmeralda vessel ends.
Sapura Navegação Marítima is fully-owned by Seabras Sapura Participações, which is a joint venture between Sapura Offshore and a subsidiary of Seadrill.
In Ivory Coast, Sapura Energy said that its subsidiary Sapura Drilling has been awarded a contract by Foxtrot International for the provision of its tender assist drilling rig Sapura Berani for three wells.
Sapura Energy’s drilling arm offered similar services for Foxtrot International’s drilling program in Ivory Coast from 2015 to 2016.
The provision of semi tender-assist drilling rig services for three wells in Ivory Coast waters will begin in Q1 FY2022. The contract comes with the option of adding another well.
The Malaysian oil and gas services company stated: “With this contract, Sapura Energy will have two of its rigs operating in the African continent. Its semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig Sapura Jaya is currently working offshore Angola.”
