Sano Solar Power Plant : Pacifico Energy breaks ground on 54MW plant in Japan

Pacifico Energy has broken ground on the 53.9MW (DC) Sano Solar Power Plant in Sano-shi, Tochigi Prefecture in Japan.

The Sano Solar project marks the first plant being developed by the Japanese renewable energy company in the Tochigi Prefecture.

juwi Shizen Energy is the EPC contractor of the solar power plant that is being built on the site of a golf course.

According to Pacifico Energy, the Sano Solar Power Plant is expected to enter into commercial operations in the summer of 2022.

The Sano Solar project will produce around 62 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year upon its commissioning. This will help in lowering the CO2 emissions by around 500 thousand tons for an electricity supply period of nearly 18 years, said Pacifico Energy.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank financed the Sano Solar Power Plant while Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities is the financial advisor. On the other hand, Baker McKenzie is the legal counsel to Pacifico Energy.

Pacifico Energy has now begun construction on 13 solar power plants in Japan that account to total of 1093MW (DC), of which eight plants with a total capacity of 644MW (DC) have been completed and had entered into commercial operations.

The Japanese renewable energy company stated: “Leveraging the know-how and expertise accumulated and refined through extensive experience with development, construction and asset management of utility-scale solar power plants, Pacifico Energy will continue to develop, construct and operate renewable energy power plants to promote a low-carbon society.
