Saddlebrook Solar Project : TC Energy to begin construction on Canadian solar power project
Canadian energy infrastructure company TC Energy is set to start pre-construction activities on the 81MW Saddlebrook Solar Project located near Aldersyde, Alberta, Canada.
The Saddlebrook solar power plant marks the first solar power facility of TC Energy in the country.
To be constructed with a total investment of CAD 146 million ($106.3 million), the Saddlebrook Solar Project will generate enough electricity to power 20,000 homes annually.
Corey Hessen — TC Energy Executive Vice-President and President of Power and Energy Solutions said: “This is the first utility-scale solar project to be fully developed and delivered by TC Energy in our history. This investment bolsters our ability to deliver low-carbon solutions for our customers and underscores our commitment to add renewable energy to the local electricity grid.”

The Saddlebrook Solar Project has secured CAD 10 million ($7.3 million) from Emissions Reduction Alberta.

TC Energy has received all required regulatory approvals and permits to commence construction of the Saddlebrook Solar Project.
Construction on the Saddlebrook solar power plant is expected to be completed in 2023 and the project will employ about 140 workers.
