Reliance Jio selects Nokia for 5G RAN equipment to build 5G network

Indian mobile operator Reliance Jio has selected Nokia as a major supplier under a multi-year deal to deliver 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) equipment from its AirScale portfolio countrywide.

As per the contract, Nokia will supply equipment such as base stations, remote radio heads (RRH), and high-capacity 5G Massive MIMO antennas for supporting various spectrum bands as well as self-organizing network software.

Reliance Jio is looking to set up a 5G standalone network which will be interworking with its 4G network. The Reliance Jio 5G standalone network will help the company deliver advanced 5G services like massive machine-to-machine communications, ultra-low-latency, and network slicing.
