P-82 FPSO : Petrobras awards order to Sembcorp Marine for Búzios field platform

Petrobras has awarded a $3.05 billion order to Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters to build the P-82 floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (P-82 FPSO) that will be deployed in the Búzios field, offshore Brazil.

Located in the Santos Basin pre-salt area, the Búzios field is approximately 180km off the coast of the capital city Rio de Janeiro.

Under the contract, Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters, a subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, is expected to deliver the P-82 FPSO in the first half of 2026.

P-82 FPSO details and capacity

With a capacity to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day and a gas processing capacity of 12 million cubic meters per day, the FPSO will be the tenth vessel to be installed in the Búzios field.

Commenting on the Búzios field P-82 FPSO contract, William Gu — Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters Senior Vice President and Head said: “We are grateful to Petrobras for selecting Sembcorp Marine to undertake this landmark project.

“Sembcorp Marine has a suite of EPC newbuild execution capabilities built on a strong track record of floating production facilities deliveries to FPSO operators and oil majors.

“Combined with our state-of-the-art yard facilities in Singapore and Brazil, we are well placed to undertake complex projects such as the P-82 FPSO.”

The Búzios field P-82 FPSO is expected to enter into commercial operations in 2026, with a connection to 16 wells.

With a stake of 92.6%, Petrobras is the operator of the Búzios field and its partners include CNOOC and CNODC, holding a stake of 3.7% each.
