Ontario Line subway : Transdev Canada wins operation and maintenance contract
Transdev Canada, a mobility solutions operator, will operate and maintain the new Ontario Line for a 30-year term following a contract from Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx.
The new 15.6km long Ontario Line is a stand-alone rapid transit line that will come along between the Ontario Science Centre and Exhibition/Ontario Place. The subway line will have 15 stops.
Transdev Canada, as part of the Connect 6ix consortium, will serve as an advisor for the design and construction phases of the subway line project and address operations and maintenance needs.
The latest contract marks the second project awarded to Transdev Canada in the Greater Toronto Area.

“Being awarded a 30-year commitment to operate the line, we are more than keenly interested in ensuring the final product delivers on all of the expectations for riders.”
In 2019, Transdev Canada won a CAD4.6bn contract to operate and maintain the 18km long Hurontario Line, a 19-stop light rail system between Port Credit GO Station in Mississauga to the Gateway Terminal at Steeles Avenue in Brampton.
With total revenues of €7bn in 2021, Transdev operates 24 light rail projects across 10 countries. The group is involved in the management of 16 different transportation modes, such as coaches, ferries, buses, or heavy rail lines.
Earlier this month, VINCI Construction Grands Projets and Ferrovial won a civil contract worth CAD 6 billion (€4.4 billion) from Metrolinx pertaining to the Ontario Line.
