NTPC wraps up trial operation of Tanda Super Thermal Power Station Stage-II Unit 2

Indian power utility NTPC said that it has wrapped up the trial operation of Unit 2 of the 1.32GW Tanda Super Thermal Power Station Stage-II in Uttar Pradesh.

The Tanda thermal power plant, which is located in Ambedkar Nagar district, has two units, each of 660MW capacity, for its stage 2. Unit 1 of stage 2 of the coal-fired power plant was commissioned in late 2019.

Four units of 110MW each were installed as part of Tanda Super Thermal Power Station Stage I.

NTPC, in a filing to the BSE, stated: “In line with the Corporate Disclosure requirements, we wish to inform that based on achievement of approved norms and due approvals, Unit-2 of 660 MW capacity of Tanda Super Thermal Power Station, Stage-II (2 x 660 MW) has successfully completed trial operation and consequently included in the installed capacity of NTPC Group w.e.f. 31.03.2021.”

With Unit 2 of the Tanda thermal power plant online, the total installed capacity of NTPC and NTPC group has gone up to 52.38GW and 65.81GW, respectively.

Earlier this month, NTPC announced the completion of the trial operation of Unit 2 of the 1.98GW Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar.
