NHPC gets pre-investment approval for 1.8GW Sawalkot hydroelectric project
NHPC Limited said that it has secured pre-investment approval for the proposed 1.85GW Sawalkot hydroelectric project in Jammu and Kashmir for an amount of INR 973 crores.
The approval was given by the Indian Ministry of Power.
The Sawalkot hydroelectric project, which is a run-of-the-river project will be built on the Chenab River by NHPC in the Ramban and Udhampur district.

According to the Indian government-owned company, the Sawalkot hydropower project will produce 7994.732 Mus of power per annum. The estimated cost of the Sawalkot hydroelectric project is INR 19,021 crores.
