Mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins from CIMC used by Chinese hospitals to combat COVID-19
Mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins : China International Marine Containers (CIMC) said that one of its member enterprises Yangzhou Tailee Special Equipment has produced the first mobile CT scan cabin, which is being used in a hospital in Huanggang, one of the worst-hit Chinese cities by the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak in Hubei province.
According to China International Marine Containers, by 2 March morning, the mobile coronavirus CT scan cabin has carried out over 100 CT scans. The CT scan cabin was delivered to the Huangzhou General Hospital in late February.
Zhao Youshan – general manager of Yangzhou Tailee said: “Normally, it takes 20 days to finish the process from research and development, design to manufacturing. But emergency of delivering the equipment to hospitals prompted us to work faster. We managed to finish it in just six days, with more than 100 employees working day and night.”
Zhao Youshan claims that the mobile cabin can be put into use in 36 hours at the earliest after arriving at the hospital, following assembly, installation of CT equipment and test for a protective effect.
Yangzhou Tailee Special Equipment is said to have been given an order of delivering a total of 25 mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins for hospitals across Huanggang, Xinyang, and Ruyang in Henan province, and Liuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Apart from the one for the Huanggang hospital, the other mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins are also being delivered to the destinations, said China International Marine Containers.

Pan Jiabing – marketing director of Yangzhou Tailee Special Equipment said: “When the mobile cabins arrive at the hospitals, they will be equipped with 5G network, which will enable medical professionals to guide the operation of CT equipment and make diagnosis remotely.”
China International Marine Containers said that CT scan is an important method for coronavirus screening and diagnosing, however, there are not enough rooms in hospitals to perform it owing to the huge number of patients. As building conventional diagnosis rooms need a long period of time, mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins are becoming a good alternative, said China International Marine Containers.
The mobile COVID-19 CT scan cabins, each having an area of 27 square meters, are built from container modules, to ensure that that they can be easily moved and reused. Each of the mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins is said to cover a doctors’ operating room and a CT inspection room, which are separated so that transmission of coronavirus can be avoided.
To make sure that the CT equipment works well, the optimal temperature to work should be between 18 and 22 degrees centigrade. For this, Yangzhou Tailee Special Equipment is said to apply a “sandwich”-style structural pattern in the mobile coronavirus CT scan cabins for thermal insulation, which involves different materials such as aluminium alloy plate and bamboo carbon fiber plate used in the thermal insulation layer and as additional protection in exterior and interior decorative layers.
