Mahindra Defence Systems to manufacture IADS for Indian Navy warships

Mahindra Defence Systems Limited has bagged a contract worth INR 1,349.95 crores from the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) for manufacturing 14 integrated anti-submarine warfare defence suite (IADS) for the Indian Navy’s modern warships.

The fully-owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. prevailed over other Indian companies in a competitive bidding round held by the MoD. The selection process saw the fielded systems go through detailed trials at sea to showcase their capability.

An integrated anti-submarine warfare defence suite, which is a high-end underwater equipment, is designed for detecting and safeguarding warships from underwater threats.

It is said to be a versatile system that can operate from all warship sizes. The complex array of sensors of the integrated anti-submarine warfare defence suite in water carry out surveillance and give inputs for signal processing as well as analysis. The warship then employs methods for countering the underwater threats.

SP Shukla — Chairman of Mahindra Defence Systems said: “It is the first major contract with the private sector meant for underwater detection and protection from threats. This contract once again epitomizes the success of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.”
