Linde India opens women operated packaged gas plant in Trichy

Linde India Limited said that it has opened its first-ever women operated packaged gas plant (PGP) in Trichy, Tamil Nadu.

“This plant is a women lead packaged gas plant that will serve the medical and industrial gases demand in and around Trichy. It is a first for Linde globally.”

According to Linde India, the Trichy packaged gases plant began operations in 2007 with oxygen filling with a target to cater to local hospitals. Presently, the packaged gas plant meets the medical demand in and around Trichy inside a radius of 50km, and industrial markets in Central and South Tamil Nadu.

Abhijit Banerjee – Linde India Managing Director said: “We felt that it was a great opportunity to do something different. Because people believe that manufacturing requires brute muscle and hard lifting, core manufacturing has historically been seen as a male bastion. However, the industry has advanced.”
