Kristin Sør project : Aker Solutions wins subsea contract from Equinor

Aker Solutions has won a subsea contract worth around NOK 1 billion ($113.4 million) from Equinor for a subsea production system to be installed at the Kristin Sør project in the North Sea.

The contract comes with options for some additional work, said Aker Solutions.

According to the Norwegian engineering company, the plan is to commence work during next year and to wrap up the delivery in the first half of 2023.

The Kristin Sør project involves the development of Lavrans and Kristin Q oil and gas fields, which are both satellites to the existing Kristin platform.

Aker Solutions revealed that the planned scope will include a subsea template with four of the company’s standardized vertical subsea trees for the Lavrans Centre.

The delivery will also include a manifold for the Kristin Q field which will be installed in the Kristin Q template which was delivered by Aker Solutions in 2007.

Kjetel Digre – CEO of Aker Solutions said: “With improved technical solutions and cost levels for subsea technology, development of satellite fields is attractive for several oil companies.

“This is also a responsible approach to utilizing marginal resources with a minimum of new installations. We see that an increasing number of our subsea projects are related to such satellite projects.”

Aker Solutions plans to manufacture the subsea trees at its facility in Curitiba in Brazil. At peak, nearly 220 employees from multiple locations will work on the project, said the Norwegian engineering company.
