Kraft Heinz to invest £140m in Kitt Green food processing plant in UK

US food company Kraft Heinz has disclosed plans to inject £140 million ($199 million) at its existing Kitt Green food processing plant near Wigan in the UK, reported Reuters.

Currently, Kraft Heinz produces nearly 1.3 billion cans of food annually at the Kitt Green food processing plant. Some of the products manufactured at the facility are Heinz Beanz, soups, and pasta.

According to Kraft Heinz, it will be the largest investment in an existing manufacturing site in more than 20 years outside of the US for the company.

The investment in the Kitt Green food processing plant could generate up to 50 new full-time roles.

Kraft Heinz plans to bring manufacturing of Heinz sauce once again to the UK through the investment, apart from upgrading machinery.

The investment in the Kitt Green food processing plant will be subject to final approvals in the US from Kraft Heinz later, which are expected later this year.

Earlier this year, Kraft Heinz signed a deal worth $3.35 billion to divest its nuts business to Hormel Foods.
