Kaskasi offshore wind farm : Siemens Games to supply turbines for innogy’s German wind project
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has secured an order from innogy to supply turbines for the 342MW Kaskasi offshore wind farm, which is being developed in the German waters of the North Sea.
As part of the contract, Siemens Gamesa will deliver 38 of its SG 8.0-167 DD Flex turbines for the German offshore wind project. Installation of the 9MW offshore wind turbines will begin in the third quarter of 2022.
The order from innogy also includes a two-year service and maintenance contract.
According to Siemens Gamesa, the turbines for the Kaskasi offshore wind farm, which are powered by the Gamesa Power Boost technology, have a rotor diameter of 167 meters. The turbines will be built using the 81 meters long Siemens Gamesa B81 Integral Blades.

To be built 35 kilometers north of the Helgoland island, the Kaskasi offshore wind project will generate enough electricity to power more than 400,000 average German households.
The SG 8.0-167 DD Flex turbines, which make up the German offshore wind farm, have a swept area of 21,900m2, and are powered by the technology of the Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive offshore wind turbine platform. The technology is said to provide stable operation and high availability while lowering the associated costs and risks.

Commenting on the Kaskasi offshore wind farm contract, Christoph Radke – COO Renewables at innogy, said: “Offshore wind is an important pillar to reach Germany’s climate protection goals by supplying green electricity from a reliable source. innogy, which has taken the final investment decision on the Kaskasi offshore wind project has also awarded contracts to Bladt Industries and Seaway 7. Danish steel contractor Bladt Industries will be responsible for constructing the monopile foundations on which the wind turbines and substation will be installed on.
Seaway 7, a Subsea 7 company, will be responsible for the transportation and installation of the offshore substation foundation, 38 wind turbine monopile foundations and also for laying out 52km of inner array grid cables in water depths in the 18-25 metres range.
innogy said that the Kaskasi offshore wind farm contracts awarded to Siemens Gamesa, Bladt Industries, and Seaway 7 have a combined value of more than €500 million.
