Jindal Steel & Power secures BIS certification for fire resistant steel

Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for manufacturing fire resistant steel structures at its rail mill and special profile mill in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

This Hot Rolled Structural Steel, produced in accordance with IS 15103, is employed in high-temperature or fire-prone areas. It can be able to withstand temperatures as high as 600℃ for a maximum time of three hours.

As per Jindal Steel & Power, fire protection has been challenging when designing steel structures. The accessibility of fire resistant steel will result in more effective designs for structures, said the company.

The brand new BIS 15103 grade will be utilized to construct steel structures in infrastructure projects like refineries, industrial structures, metro projects, bridges, power and steel plants, as well as in hospitals, residential, and commercial structures.
