J.M. Smucker Co. sells private label dry pet food business to Diamond Pet Foods

The J.M. Smucker Co. (Smucker’s) has divested its private label dry pet food business to Missouri-based Diamond Pet Foods for nearly $33 million in cash.

The deal includes the sale of the company’s pet food manufacturing plant in Frontenac, Kansas.

It excludes any branded products or the firm’s private label wet pet food business.

The divested business of J.M. Smucker Co. registered net sales of around $95 million for the fiscal year ended 30 April 2021.

Smucker Co., said: “This divestiture enables us to focus investments and resources on areas of our pet food and pet snacks business positioned for growth and profitability, including driving category growth in dog snacks, building upon our momentum in cat food—particularly with Meow Mix, and stabilizing Nutrish dog food by growing consumer demand.”
