Infosys, GE Digital partner to expedite grid transformation for utilities

Infosys has forged a collaboration with GE Digital, the software division of General Electric (GE), with an aim to expedite grid transformation for the utilities sector.

GE Digital and Infosys agreed to follow a joint go-to-market approach to offer value added solutions for grid related products and services, for their new and existing customers.

The solutions for the utilities industry will be jointly brought by Infosys and GE Digital to enable grid operators in realizing a grid that is more reliable, resilient, and sustainable. Driving this will be grid orchestration software platform and a suite of intelligent applications that bring together energy data, artificial intelligence (AI), and network modeling.

Infosys said that the partnership combines the know-how and experience of GE with utilities in the energy sector, and long years of investment in grid equipment and platforms, and its own extent of business transformation, advanced technology capabilities, and system integration that will facilitate efficient orchestration of the electric grid.

The Indian IT company will build a GE Digital Center of Excellence (CoE) for growing the talent pool for the GE GridOS portfolio and bring in optimum practices in the delivery of services.

Infosys will invest in accelerators as well to integrate the platform and application suite of GE into enterprise ecosystems and address the specific needs of clients.

Additionally, the Indian IT services provider will bring in digital capabilities in subjects such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, cloud, and industrial Internet of Things (IoT) to support transformation of utilities.

The 360-degree partnership will enable it to work with GE to offer the advantages of information technology and operational technology (IT-OT) convergence to utilities, said Infosys.
