US medical imaging company Imago Systems and Mayo Clinic have signed a know-how license agreement to collaborate on breast imaging with the academic medical center to support clinical trial development and oversee the former’s reader studies for mammography.

The multi-year agreement signed by the parties will focus on clinical trial support for the ICE Reveal product, a visual intelligence software, for breast imaging. The agreement also has a commitment for financial investment from Mayo Clinic in the US medical imaging company.

As per the agreement, one of the breast imaging specialists from Mayo Clinic will head the pilot and pivotal studies of Imago Systems to clinically validate ICE Reveal as applied to screen mammograms.

In the partnership, Mayo Clinic is expected to play an important part in the evolution of the technology to improve breast imaging across various imaging modalities.

The ICE Reveal visual intelligence software involves no additional exposure to radiation and is claimed to be capable of being a safe and effective tool against breast cancer.

Thomas Ramsay – Chairman and CEO of Imago Systems said: “We are very excited about our collaboration with Mayo Clinic, and its support in advancing our imaging technology for better care. Mayo Clinic is a leader in breast cancer detection and treatment, and an advocate for the use of technology to advance healthcare.

“Our technology puts more information into the hands of radiologists and clinicians so that they can make the best possible diagnosis. This agreement with Mayo Clinic will help validate our technology and provide us with a stepping stone for full commercialization.”
