Illinois American Water to upgrade local water and wastewater systems

Illinois American Water revealed plans to invest more than $5 million in Illinois for upgrading local water and wastewater systems.

The American Water subsidiary will undertake replacement of the water main, increase water main size, looping in the Peoria area, and lining sewer main in the service areas of Glasford and Washington.

Eric Larson — Illinois American Water Western Division senior manager of operations said: “Many communities across the country are facing the need to upgrade water and sewer mains to support reliable service and community growth. We are committed to our customers and making necessary investments to upgrade the local water and wastewater systems which help to keep life flowing.”

According to Illinois American Water, nearly 7,500ft of sewer lining will take place in Glasford and Washington service areas in 2022. The sewer lining will help boost the reliability of wastewater collection systems and decrease the possibility of backups, inflows, and infiltration.

The water utility said that the initial investment will involve televising sewer main for determining if the 7,500 feet of sewer lining will ensue.

On the other hand, Illinois American Water will replace more than 16,000 feet of water main across the Peoria District water system, which includes the Peoria and Farmington communities.
